History Castle
Castle Fernsteinsee, situated dominantly
at the slope over the mountain pass and the bluish-green
remote lake, is the best thinkable scenery for a castle-
hotel.
In 1519 already, as prove ducuments, did the stables offer
place for 30-70 horses and accommodated castle Fernstein
the most illustrious guests in the
course of the centuries, as emperor Maximilian and
empress Maria Theresia. At the Roman time already, an important road connection ran over the
pass.
Even then the lake Fernsteinsee offered a possibility
for resting and for changing horses. The remains
of this Roman road are recognizable up to today.
